Over the weekend I visited the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro to gaze upon the worldwide spectacle of Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman‘s Rubber Duck. I first learned of the 6-story high floating ducky when out of nowhere a slew of my friends in Hong Kong posted photos from various angles of a giant yellow duck floating in the ocean on Instagram. I was thrilled to discover that the duck was actually an art project that was traveling around the world and that one of the locations it would dock at was LA. My inner child was stoaked to see the towering duck. Something about a giant replica of a toy you’d play with in the past brings a warm, nostalgic cheery feeling.
Additionally the giant duck seduces everyone to take selfies beside it, myself included.
